Autumn is Here - Art Happenings in Seattle

October 1 2018

We’ve pulled the tomatoes from the garden, have made spiced apple cider, and I’m not sure which coat to wear. Autumn is here and good things are brewing! This fall semester marks the beginning of my new appointment at Cornish College of the Arts as Assistant Professor in the Art Department within the Foundations Program. We’ve kicked off the school year with a stunning group show of Art Department Faculty. The work is on view until Dec. 14, 2018 - stop by and say hello.

Sandscape on view at SPAC Gallery

Artist and educator Zack Bent has curated a small group exhibition at SPAC Gallery on Seattle Pacific University’s campus. Drawn Out showcases a wide array of contemporary works that consider what the act of drawing can mean. It was a great opportunity to look at an older piece with fresh eyes. If you’re in Seattle, stop by Thurs. Oct. 18th from 5-7pm for the opening.

Drawn Out at SPAC Gallery, featuring the work of:

Erin Elyse Burns
Alyson Provax
Rob Rhee
Hanita Schwartz
Chris Vorhees
Matthew Whitney
Ko Kirk Yamahira

The act of drawing can be used to document or describe, to inform or entertain, to decorate or demarcate. Drawn Out brings together a group of artists that offer alternative approaches to drawing’s history of edge finding, erasure, duration and process through unexpected mediums and methods.
